UNN VC Funds Nollywood Flick | Future Awards Nominee, Lorenzo in Lead Role
Professor Bartho Okolo, Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka has decided to motivate his students by funding production of a movie being produced by Professor Emeka Nwabueze, Head, Department of Theatre and Film Studies, UNN.
The movie is the story of a young medical student whose story changed in 24 hours. According to one of the crew members,
“SPOKESMAN FOR THE ORACLE is a neatly crafted story that reflects most of the problems and contradictions inherent in the contemporary society. It demonstrates sharply the tensions between a remnant moral culture and a dominant materialistic one. The story, through symbolism and its dialogue presents an enlarged picture of the society in it’s undiluted form. It is perhaps intended as a parable for the erosion of moral values over a generation.”
The film stars Nollywood heavyweights including Clem Ohameze, Chiwetalu Agu, Rita Edochie, Amaechi Muonagor, On-Air Personality, graduate of UNN and 2010 Future Awards nominee, Lorenzo Menakaya who plays the lead role (Ikemefuna) and Obi Okoli amongst others.
Several students of the institution got cameo roles.
The Cast and crew members paid a courtesy visit later to the Vice Chancellor Professor Bartho Okolo at his office at the Nsukka Campus of the University, where the VC told them of his bigger dreams of making the University a haven for the best filmmakers and actors in the nation.
Present were the principal officers of the University Professor Asuzu (Deputy Vice-Chancellor – Academic), Professor Egbeke Aja (DVC Admin), Dr Charles Omekwu (University Librarian), Mrs Obi (Bursar), anchored by the Communication Secretary to the VC Mr Gabriel Ndu.
