Doug Levitt is a singer-songwriter who comes from the United States. He used to work in London, England as a foreign correspondent for major networks such as NBC and ABC. He began taking Greyhound buses roughly 10 years ago. He hopped on Greyhound buses to reach all different areas of the United States. His goal was simple. Levitt wanted to collect photographs, tunes and anecdotes from individuals who relied on bus transportation. His journey gave him the interesting opportunity to meet many human beings who were in the midst of life difficulties. Levitt spanned a total of 70,000 miles over the course of seven years. The fascinating experiences he had prompted him to pen a book that’s known by the name “The Greyhound Diaries”
Doug Levitt’s life began in 1972. Washington, D.C. was his place of birth. His full name is Douglass Levitt Schwartz. His mother Carol has a strong political background. She’s a politician who ran to be mayor several times. Doug’s father is named David. Young Doug went to schools that were part of Washington, D.C.’s public school system. He’s an alumnus of Woodrow Wilson High School. Levitt went to Cornell University in Ithaca, New York for his undergraduate education. Carl Sagan taught Levitt during his time at the famed Ivy League institution. Sagan was an acclaimed astrophysicist and writer who passed away in 1996. Levitt after that earned a Fulbright Scholarship that brought him to the London School of Economics in London, United Kingdom. That’s where he completed an International Relations master’s degree.
Levitt underwent a significant career transition while living across the pond in the United Kingdom. Although he started out as a foreign correspondent working in the news world, he made the decision to go into music. Levitt relocated to Nashville, Tennessee in the early 2000s. That’s where he teamed up with David Henry, a prominent producer in the Americana genre. Many people know of Henry due to his production work with both Guster and Josh Rouse. Henry became a big part of Levitt’s Greyhound Diaries mission.
